Our 98,000 employees operate a network of 2,650 offices and laboratories, working together to enable a better, safer and more interconnected world.Job DescriptionWe are looking for the inspectors/surveyors in and around the area for the inspection of various type of cargo.The inspector/surveyor will be assigned to a variety of projects involving inspecting/surveying cargo on seagoing vessels.Typically, the inspections would require visual/physical inspection, witness of loading into or unloading cargo from an ocean vessel and review of shipping documentation to verify contents and packages.A marine inspector/surveyor will also be responsible for verifying cargo and packaging complies to the client specs for sea worthiness and complying to the applicable safety and logistics regulations.Each inspection completed would require inspector issuing a report of findings within the specific time limit.The inspector will be required to sign an independent contractor agreement/sub-contractor agreement (1099) with SGS North America Inc.Work will be assigned on as needed basis and will be paid for the hours/days and other applicable cost items for the hours/days spent on the assigned work.The work duration could be a day or several days or several weeks.Each time an inspection is completed an invoice with a time sheet is expected to pay the inspector for the completed job. Normal payment terms of the contract is 15 to 20 days after receipt of invoice.QualificationsCandidate will be qualified and possess a valid TWIC Card,Candidate will have a minimum of 3 years' experience around cargo inspections.Candidate with Master Mariner and similar testimonial will be a plus.Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.Candidates must be proficient in using several types of computer software (Word, Excel. PowerPoint & Outlook).Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition.Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.Depending on educational qualification, trainings/certification and experience the pay range will be $35 to $48 per hour. Mileage for round trip driving will be reimbursed at cost. For extended traveling when needed all expense items will be reimbursed at cost against receipts.Work schedule: Ad hoc - as required by the client.Minimum Salary: 35.00

Maximum Salary: 48.00
