DescriptionThe Relationship Manager is responsible for creating new and expanding existing relationships in the Private Equity vertical within the Citizens Private Bank. The Relationship Manager works to generate new business for Citizens through prospecting efforts. The RM also leads market development efforts to broaden the usage of all bank products by new private equity entrants. This is done so through networking and marketing efforts. The RM will be required to have an in-depth understanding of Citizens’ operations and the private equity industry. Given the RM's role as a business development specialist, a strong understanding of Citizens’ product offerings is required for cross-sell opportunities outside of their designated banking vertical. In this role, the RM also supports the team through learning development and provides training opportunities for more junior roles on the team.Primary responsibilities include

Serve as a growth contributor for designated team – includes working closely with analysts and other support team members for their development.

Responsible for generating new business opportunities.

Identifying potential cross-sell opportunities from prospects and existing clients and liaising with internal colleagues who are able to help execute those cross-sell opportunities (cash management, private banking, wealth management, foreign exchange, etc.).

Fully understand Citizens’ credit appetite and review new and existing opportunities to identify potential credit risks.

Engage and manage term sheet and legal documentation negotiations between clients, Bank counsel, and client counsel. A full understanding of the legal document process is required.

Manage new and existing client relationships with clients through frequent client meetings and communications to ensure strong, stable relationships.

Conduct marketing and community building efforts to reach prospective clients and engage with private equity participants to educate individuals on Citizens' offerings and credit opportunities that may benefit the private equity business.

Remain knowledgeable on market trends to properly put forth favorable credit terms, while remaining competitive in the private equity credit markets.

Qualifications, Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials

Minimum 10+ years of relevant experience. Exhibits a history of competency in soliciting, developing, servicing, and structuring deals. Able to handle the most difficult and sensitive client relationships.

Capable of handling negotiations, including in the area of loan documentation. Independent thinker and self-starter.

Excellent credit skills. Responsible for cross-selling and product knowledge/application.

Highly skilled in financial modeling and able to quickly structure credit in modeling environment.

Skilled at maintaining good communication across business unit and broader organization.

Expected to provide guidance.

Exhibits competency at independently reaching conclusions and forms clear view of credit structure and business risk to Bank.

Stays abreast of changes in Bank products and services, is capable of identifying appropriate client product fit, and is able, at a high level, to present each product to a client or prospect. Actively coordinates with cross sell partners to help facilitate the sale of additional Bank products.

Actively organizes and manages/leads Bank meetings with clients and appropriate internal partners and team members.

Enthusiastic, resilient, and energetic.

Comprehensive verbal and written communication skills, able to multi task and function under pressure to meet deadlines, strong organizational skills, client service, developed influencing and negotiation skills.

Word, Excel, Power Point, spread sheet modeling, and presentation development and delivery skills.

Bachelor Degree in Business administration, finance, accounting and/or economics required

Master Degree is a plus

Pay TransparencyCommissioned based. Individuals in this role have historically earned between $500,000 - $800,000 per year, based on performance and productivity against commission plan parameters.
