Description We are offering an opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in the education industry based in NEW YORK, New York, 10128-0601, United States. This role involves supervising accounting operations, supporting student billing processes, and coordinating with various internal teams. This is a contract to hire employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Oversee daily operations of the accounting systems, including general and sub-ledgers, accounts payable and receivables, and other related functions. Support student re-enrollment and ongoing student billing and receipting processes. Assist in managing the School's financial aid program and disbursement functions. Reconcile bank and investment accounts monthly and ensure accurate financial reports are provided as requested. Coordinate with HR to manage various employee benefit program obligations and prepare semi-monthly payrolls. Assist in monitoring the annual operating budget and prepare variance reports. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, tax filings, professional standards, and internal policies. Lead the preparation of the annual audit and coordinate with the school's auditors. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders such as the Board, auditors, the head of school, and the Development Team as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Finance & Administration.Skills: Account Reconciliation Balance Sheet Reconciliation Bank Reconciliations General Ledger Journal Entries Microsoft Excel Month End Close NetSuite Oracle SAP Monthly Bank Reconciliation Assigned Balance Sheet Requirements Proficiency in Account Reconciliation Experience with Balance Sheet Reconciliation and Bank Reconciliations Familiarity with General Ledger and Journal Entries Proficiency in Microsoft Excel Experience with Month End Close procedures Knowledge of NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP Experience with Monthly Bank Reconciliation Ability to handle Assigned Balance Sheet tasks Advanced degree in Accounting or related field Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Ability to work independently and as part of a team High level of integrity and dependability Proven record of meeting deadlines and delivering accurate work.
