Description We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in the non-profit industry, located in New York. This role presents an opportunity for a short-term contract employment. As a Staff Accountant, you will be involved in a variety of tasks such as processing and analyzing General Ledger transactions, account analysis, reconciliations, and data entry of accounts. Responsibilities: Handle the preparation, processing, and analysis of General Ledger transactions Conduct detailed account analysis to ensure accurate financial records Perform reconciliations of bank accounts and statements to maintain financial accuracy Review and manage payables and receivables to ensure timely payments and collections Prepare and post journal entries to keep financial records updated Utilize QuickBooks/Lawson for financial management and reporting Engage in data entry of accounts to maintain an organized financial database Utilize Microsoft Excel to work with large amounts of data sets Reconcile bank accounts and statements to ensure financial accuracy Assist in reporting to the Assistant Controller to provide insights into financial performance. Requirements Minimum of three years of experience in an accounting role, preferably in the non-profit sector Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Experience with bank reconciliations and general ledger management Familiarity with creating and managing journal entries Proficiency in using QuickBooks for accounting tasks Experience with Lawson and AS400 software Skilled in data entry and Microsoft Excel Ability to perform account reconciliation accurately and efficiently Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently and as part of a team Must be able to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
