Our high retention rate is influenced by a unique compensation program for positions that are more than just jobs - they're chances to grow, do what you love and build a career with us!Scope: As a subject matter expert in Compliance, the District Trade and Customs Compliance Manager will, at a District level, assist in ensuring that the Company meets its obligation to comply with all Company policies and all applicable laws and regulations related to Trade and Customs Compliance.Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Serve as the primary District-level resource for Trade Compliance, Import Compliance, and Export Compliance

Administer and manage the Compliance program in the district according to company objectives, policies and procedures

Proactively communicate and coordinate with the District Manager and Regional Compliance Manager

Coordinate with Product Leaders and employees to review compliance policies, procedures, performance and execution as related to their job functions.

Support Sales, Product Leaders and Account Managers in business development as it’s related to compliance

Stay informed of current and proposed laws, regulations, directives, rules, and policies applicable. Distribute related information within the district.

Maintain knowledge of Expeditors’ operating systems and how those systems support the Company’s ongoing Compliance goals and objectives

Support our Government Outreach Program. Facilitate and report government agency visits to Regional and CHQ Compliance in accordance with Expeditors’ Government Visit Guidelines.

Compliance Related Tasks:

Perform internal reviews and monitoring of customs declarations, EEI filing, and shipments according to both Expeditors’ and the applicable regulatory requirements

Analyze, trend, identify root cause and corrective action based on file reviews

Coordinate and communicate with government agencies as needed in accordance with Expeditors’ policies and procedures.

Assist with importer/exporter setup (POA, RSIs, bonds, statement, etc.)

Process customs daily statements timely and manage exceptions

Post entry processing and management in a timely manner and in accordance with both the regulatory and Expeditors guidelines

Review compliance reports that are in place to monitor various compliance related activities

Support with proper implementation of the TSA IACSSP (Indirect Air Carrier Standard Security Program)

Follow Company escalation procedures

Training:

Assist with training in the district, includes deskside and instructor led training sessions on compliance topics

Create, design, prepare and conduct training sessions for operational staff

Assist operational staff with compliance related questions and issues

Identify process and efficiencies as it’s related to compliance performance.

Reporting Structure:

District Manager

Liaise with Regional and Corporate Customs Compliance Managers

Minimum 5 years forwarding industry experience or equivalent

Broker’s License

Management experience

College degree

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Proficiency in the following software products:

MS Office - Word, Excel, Access, Power Point

Successful candidates must pass a background check

Experience with shipments regulated by US Export control laws (EAR & ITAR)

Customs business understanding; current customs environment on both the export and import

Analytical with a strong attention to detail

Research skills, problem solving and follow-up skills

Strong organizational and time management skills

Ability to multi-task and prioritize throughout the workday while remaining focused and organized

Effective interpersonal skills, including proven ability to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results
