Position Overview:

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing financial statements i.e., balance sheets, general ledger entry, invoices, accounts payable and accounts receivables, payroll, taxes, bank reconciliation and other account reconciliation, plus guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies, procedures, and internal controls. Will monitor and substantiate financial conditions by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors.

Periodically, the Accounting Manager may perform several roles or work with staff in several departments. Work schedule will include nights, weekends and holidays based on scheduled events or necessity.

Job Description

The essential functions of the Accounting Manager include but not limited to:

Maximize return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, control and reporting systems.

Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.

Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data, recommending plans.

Perform general accounting functions, including preparation of journal entries, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations

Manage the payroll function and benefits/ACA compliance

Develop, prepare, and analyze financial management reports

Manage weekly A/R and A/P reports

Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine transactions

Monitor and analyze department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Respond to inquiries from the President and other managers regarding financial results and special reporting requests

Work with insurance brokers and vendors to establish contracts

Interface with auditors on payroll related audits

Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems on the event day

Manage staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage.

Assists other team members as needed or when business needs dictate

Hold self to a higher standard, being a role model at all times

Works safely and efficiently

Flexible schedule, and must be able to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as needed

Performs other related duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position is responsible to oversee two (2) accounting team members.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business management, or a combination of education and experience required.

Experience in restaurant accounting or F&B preferred.

Experience with financial reporting requirements.

5+ years accounting/finance experience required.

2+ years of leadership or management experience, required.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

Knowledge of electronics, office software, etc.

Strong knife and cooking skills.

Experience in training, and managing personnel.

Auditing, accounting and corporate finance.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Strong organizational, decision making, and time management skills.

Ability to manage in a diverse environment with a focus on client and customer services.

The ability to think quickly, work in stressful circumstances and stay calm in a fast-paced environment.

Strong leadership and motivating skills including the ability to build strong relationships with customers and staff.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this position in a fast-paced environment, where workflow may be interrupted throughout the course of the day without warning, and requiring adaptation.

This position requires a well-groomed professional appearance at all time. Footwear with slip resistant soles that will enable the team member to navigate a kitchen environment safely on floor surfaces commonly found in restaurants (i.e., smooth, wet and greasy restaurant quarry tile).

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, feel, or grip objects, stretch and/or reach with hands and arms, stoop, crouch or work in cramped or awkward positions, repetitive motions, work in cramp quarters. This person may regularly lift and/or move/carry up to 30+ pounds.

Environment:

The environment characteristics describe here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential functions of the position.

Primarily indoors and may be exposed to fluctuations in temperature while in and around a restaurant environment and/or the Portland Airport. May be exposed to water, heat, steam, smoke, cold, odors, noise from, customers, music and public announcement system, as is common in an airport environment. We operate 24/7, including holidays, and weekends.
