JOB SUMMARYThe Clinical Applications Specialist II acts as a mid-level professional in the support of one or more clinical applications. This role demonstrates proficiency in knowledge the application functionality, reporting capability, interfacing and integration associated with clinical applications assigned.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Application implementation, system/integration, system configuration, system customization, upgrades/updates, user training, user access, high availability, and other duties as assigned.
Reviews monthly clinical updates and keeps application data current with industry standards.
Helps the implementation of new functionality in the application, such as new interfaces, by contributing to clinical requirements definition, participating in testing and developing related workflows.
Assesses impact of changes to the quality of care and tests new and existing functionality prior to application upgrades and releases and assists with cross-training of other team members.
Helps implement third-party software and related application modules by assisting with testing, software configuration, and workflows.
Assists with the implementation of clinical applications consistent with enterprise standards.
Develops policies and procedures on best practices with the electronic patient record, and clearly communicates these to users and physicians.
Researches patient data across multiple applications to resolve discrepancy errors, both in clinical and demographic areas (front office and back office).
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Clinical IT experience helping clinical application or working as a super user in a clinical setting.
Knowledge of associated workflows and how the application(s) integrate with the clinical environment is preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to use a variety of media to split documentation and communications, including word processor applications and web pages.
Works autonomously and with other members of the clinical application support team for the resolution of user problem tickets and diagnosis of application errors.
Ability to know complex technical or scientific information and effectively communicate it to other audience as needed.
Ability to develop, produce and deliver training presentations to clinical and non-clinical personnel.
Self-starter able to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
