Posting Number: S05963PDepartment: Research Operations & LabsSalary Range: up to $70K DOQPay Basis: MonthlyPosition Status: Regular full-timeLocation: RichardsonJob Description: Reporting to the Bioscience Core Manager and under the technical direction of the Faculty Advisory Committee, the Genome Center is seeking a full-time Research Scientist. The Research Scientist is responsible for managing all aspects of the Genome Center, including but not limited to preparing various samples for sequencing services of NGS and Sanger sequencing, maintaining laboratory equipment and records, providing guidance, and being a resource to users of the research core facilities, and support research activities utilizing other bioscience cores as needed. The incumbent will serve as an expert consultant to the users of the Genome Center regarding the technical details of the Next-Generation Sequencing and Sanger sequencing. In addition to assuring day‐to‐day operations, the Research Scientist II position will provide strategic planning for the continued growth of the core programs in coordination with the Bioscience Core Manager.Minimum Qualifications: A minimum of a PhD in a field directly related to research and a minimum of two years of experience/expertise as noted below.Preferred Education and Experience: Preferred Qualifications:
Experience operating Illumina sequencing platform and library preparation.
Experience performing single-cell sequencing and/or spatial transcriptomics.
Experience operating small animal imaging instruments e.g. IVIS optical imager, micro CT, MRI .
Previous working experiences in core laboratories.
