Job Title: Automation Controls EngineerJob Description Collaborates with strategic Account Managers, Project Managers, and Estimators to assess potential projects and submit proposals. Interprets construction drawings and specifications for electrical, P&IDs, motor control, relay control, and PLC design to communicate with customers and design team to better understand project objectives. Understanding of electrical theories, principles, and writing specifications. Understanding of basic relay logic. Raise questions as needed to develop a complete understanding of design intent and applicable design best practices and internal company standards. Develops PLC programs in Function Block, Structure text, Ladder, and other languages. Develops control strategies, I/O list, Bill of Materials, test plans for control panels and automated systems. Oversee/Perform Quality Assurance of completed control panels in the panel shop. Performs internal and customer-witnessed Factory Acceptance Test. Performs on-site commissioning of control panels. Troubleshoots problems that may occur during startup. Trains customers on use and operation of control system and software. Understand and incorporate feedback from panel designer, panel manufacturing, electricians, and installers to modify drawing package as needed. Respond to service calls to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair control system and programming. Organizes and runs scheduled work orders within the department to meet on-time needs. Communicate with vendors, engineers, owners, service managers, and other contractors to assure jobs will be completed within the scope and budget. Mentor and train less experienced Automation Specialists. Treat clients with the highest degree of respect and work to develop a partnership environment. Perform other duties as assigned. 25% Travel to job sites may be required.Hard Skills
