He or she assists superintendents and foremen in building the work accurately based on drawings and specifications and reports to the project engineer. A successful field engineer will need to interface between craft supervision, owners, vendors, subcontractors, and members of the project team.   Essential Functions

Manage quantities and perform quantity takeoffs as required

Procure, schedule, and manage subcontractors and material suppliers to ensure crews' needs are met

Assist in work plan development and monitoring with project engineer, superintendents, and foremen

Manage quantity and cost reporting as accurately as possible, report results to superintendents and foremen

Participate in the Estimate Turnover Meeting

Assist in converting the estimate to a control budget and set up job files

Coordinate and review submittals

Attend and participate in daily and weekly safety meetings

Implement quality assurance and quality control processes to verify construction activities against engineering specifications

Perform inspections on materials, workmanship, and construction methods to ensure compliance with industry standards and project requirements

Collaborate with project managers to develop and execute quality control plans and ensure adherence to them

Identify deviations from plans and specifications, propose corrective actions, and work with site teams to ensure timely resolutions

Document and report quality control findings, non-conformities, and corrective actions

Assist with change order pricing

Participate in the project document control process and assist in the as-built drawing process

Assist in documentation between ZCC and owner, subcontractors, and suppliers

Maintain accurate record set of project drawings and specifications

Participate in the project close-out process

Finalize cost report quantities used for payment applications and project reports

 Required Skills & Experience

1+ years’ recent heavy highway, road, and bridge construction experience (prefer a prior internship with a heavy civil contractor) 

Medium to large project experience ($10M+) is preferred

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline is preferred

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications

Work independently as well as part of a team

Strong leadership skills

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft programs, such as Excel and Word

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Must be capable, licensed, and approved to drive a company pick-up truck or similar vehicle to work sites, offices, and other locations as required to perform job duties

Must be able to climb up and down ladders and scaffolding to gain access to work and walk on uneven surfaces throughout the construction site
