Intraoperative Monitoring (IOM) TechnologistWork location: Sid Richardson Pavilion: 700 5th Ave., Ft. Worth, TX 76104Work hours: Full-time (40 hours); rotating shiftDepartment Highlights:We are a full-sevice Neurodiagnostics unit. We provide EEG, EMU/Continuous monitoring and Neuro Intro-operative monitoring. We are an ABRET credentialed lab in NIOM. We currently have 13 fully trained technicians. We have a 4-bed EMU.Here's What You NeedEducationHigh school diploma or equivalent with ten (10) years registered EPT required orBachelor's Degree in a Healthcare related field with seven (7) years documentation of one hundred fifty (150) NIOM cases required orIOM accredited certificate program with documentation of fifty (50) NIOM cases requiredExperienceSeven (7) years Neurodiagnostics experience (if Bachelors held) required orTen (10) years Neurodiagnostics experience (if a high school diploma held) requiredLicenses and CertificationsR. EP T. - Registered EP Technician (if no Bachelor's degree) upon hire required andBCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support (prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly) requiredSkillsMust be able to speak, read and write English with a high level of understanding. Must be able to see the computer read outs for EEG/EMG tracings and computers used in the provision services.What you will doServes as a preceptor to assist in the training of EP Technicians and EEG Technicians.Assists in verifying clinical competencies for EP & EEG TechniciansProvides patient care using Neurodiagnostic procedures for neonatal through geriatric age patients.Maximizes safe electro-neurodiagnostic monitoring procedures for at-risk surgeries.Collaborates at a high-level efforts between surgeons, the O.R, the neurologist panel, contract staff and department crew to obtain highest level of quality patient testing/monitoring coverage.Prints and scans 24-hour record denoting significant dataConducts patient assessments to ensure diagnostic testing capacity is relevant to patient condition with the ordered testsManages IOM exams that are not interpretedAccurately applies, assesses, utilizes and communicates differences specific to each of the basic IOM testsIdentifies adverse reactions to IOM testing and emergency measures for such initiatedMonitors patient safety by taking pro-active steps to reduce or eliminate patient risksPerforms timely documentation Neurodiagnostic procedures in CareConnectVerifies physician's orders for IOM monitoring and testingCompletes required ambulatory records to ensure they are accurate, timely and readily availableTakes proactive and assertive action to address concerns with patient orders by calling the physicianCommunicates concerns, ideas or recognition involving practices or policies that will affect financial issuesAdditional perks of being an Intraoperative Monitoring (IOM) Technologist:Benefits include 401k, PTO, medical, dental, Paid Parental Leave, flex spending, tuition reimbursement, Student Loan Repayment Program as well as several other benefitsAt Texas Health, our people make this a great place to work every day.
