It is one of the nation's original three comprehensive cancer centers designated by the National Cancer Institute.The incumbent will float between GU, GYN or Breast clinics and partner with the Access nurse for patients ordered to have contrast. The ideal candidate will perform ambulatory clinic nurse duties, and have experience with intravenous (IV) insertions and port-a-cath access/deaccess.Assesses patient's needs for nursing care and other services, using clinical skills and visual, aural and analytical abilities. Accountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area. Collaborates with physicians, other services, patient and patient's family to plan care and evaluate outcomes. Improves practice by integrating results and theories of research studies. Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies. Documents care according to established standards. Accesses, inputs and retrieves information from computer systems. Assures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services. Acts as a patient and family advocate in order to uphold patient rights. Trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.Hours: Monday - Friday- some weekend and evening shifts required.Essential Job FunctionsAccountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area. Improves practice by integrating results and theories of research studies.Participates in data collection for current studies.Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies.Assures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services.Acts as a patient and family advocate to uphold patient rights.Organizes and prioritizes work of patient care team; trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.EducationRequired: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.ExperienceRequired: No experience required.Certification/LicensureRequired: All clinical nurses with less than one year registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program. Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN).
