The Associate Applications Systems Analyst is a primary support contact for the assigned application and may communicate directly with the Manager to discuss design decisions. He/she communicates directly with the IT analysts and ensures that all key decisions are implemented across the application. The Associate Applications Systems Analyst will be responsible for coordinating and communicating with the end users and representatives from all areas of the hospital related to their specific application.The Associate Applications Systems Analyst should have an understanding of MD Anderson's objectives for implementing an EMR and the ability to recognize opportunities for process redesign that will help the organization maximize the benefits of the implementation.EHR Medical Device Integration and Support Assist with efforts to identify and resolve application issues effectively and in a timely manner. Assist Applications Systems Analysts, Sr. Applications Systems Analysts and Principal EHR Application Analysts (or equivalent) with projects and daily support tasks. May assist a technical lead for new system planning and deployment efforts. Acts as a primary support contact for their specific application, including troubleshooting problems or questions from users, coordinating software updates, evaluating enhancement requests. Proactively assesses system functioning and is able to recognize impending problems and correct them before work processes are disrupted. Demonstrates expertise in the supported applications. Is knowledgeable regarding the supported department's work processes. Uses this knowledge to ensure that systems operation contributes to optimization of work processes and patient care. Assist with efforts in the development of plans for contingency, back out, and recovery, as well as conversions/cut-overs.Technical Knowledge Analyzes system technical requirements and provides appropriate input to the development or selection of solutions, taking into consideration project constraints. Evaluates the business and technical implications of the application of technology to the current and future business environment. Provides this input to the project team and customer. Documents hardware and software architecture. Demonstrates and maintains the technical skills necessary for system configuration and system administration activities. Assists team members in developing configuration skills, as needed. Participates in identification, troubleshooting, and resolution of application and/or implementation issues. Insures follow-through on reported problems to final resolution.Customer Service Responds to customers in a timely manner, providing priority response to support calls from users who are involved in direct patient care or other mission-critical activities. Learns and understands customers' business needs. Manages client relationships by serving as a trusted technical subject matter expert and advisor. Assist client in identifying opportunities, plan for and scope future activities, inform client of current trends and best practices, and assist in aligning client with other institutional initiatives/activities which may provide benefit to them.Content ManagementModification of application content as prescribed by project teamEHR OptimizationUnderstanding both the clinical and business workflows to achieve strategic outcomesOther duties as assignedEducation Required: Bachelor's degree.Experience Required : None. May substitute required education degree with additional years of related experience on a one to one basis.Preferred Experience: Experience with medical device integration.Two years IT experience Experience in an academic healthcare setting. Experience at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
