We are looking for a Project Pursuit Manager to join our team remote in either Houston, TX or Kansas City, MO .You will have an external focus in front of customers, as well as an internal focus in Emerson as an overall leader of the multi-disciplinary pursuit team. You will mostly work in a matrix; setting a clear vision and winning strategy for your assigned projects, own the sales activities and perform extensive communication with all relevant collaborators.In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Develop the strategic project sales pursuit plan required to successfully win the pursuit.

Lead all internal and external project pursuit resources vital to win the assigned project, handling all internal resources including district, regional and area sales and proposal resources, project execution teams, executive management and channel partners.

Drive Guide Form Specification activities for the complete Discrete Automation solution portfolio with particular emphasis on controls and software.

Leading all aspects of the development of sales strategy; forging relationships with defined end users, channel partners, system integrators and engineering contractors; having direct involvement throughout the project pursuit lifecycle including sales pursuit, proposal generation / submittal, and contract negotiation and then involvement with the project execution, delivery, start-up/commissioning and final project hand off.

Applying a pre-defined project pursuit methodology including opportunity qualifications and screening, sales team assignments, communications planning, sales strategy developments, executive management involvement and reporting, proposal planning, competitive analysis, customer business analysis, risk analysis and mitigation, and pursuit success probability.

Improve our Project Win ratio while winning at a price premium based on a differentiated business case and customer value creation and understand the overall Emerson platform profitability guidelines on the global pursuits.

Identify key customers within the target project organization, who will have an influence on a developing opportunity.

Document via CRM or Emerson account management documentation, account details, personnel, and organization makeup within target accounts

Coordinate with local, regional, and global contacts on opportunities, specification influence, and market initiatives.

Provide a high-level overview of activities internally to the management team, being an advocate for target project customers to gain internal support and required resources.

Generate opportunities and wins for Life Cycle Services and Programs within the Discrete Automation portfolio.

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in automation sales experience

5+ years of Field Sales Experience

Experience in writing Guide Form Specifications

Experience in selling to Engineering Procurement Construction Firms (EPC), End Users, C-Suite

Experience in driving major projects across a matrix organization.

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Strong interpersonal & negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport, establish trust and close deals

The ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.

Valid driver's license.

Valid passport.

Ability to travel 50% with overnight and extended travel days within the assigned territory.

Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Marketing, Business, or a related field.

Basic understanding of Industrial Automation, Controls and Software, Fluid Power

Proficiency in using CRM software, and sales-related tools.

Subject matter expertise in either or all of Industrial Automation, Process Automation, Factory Automation, Controls and Software, Fluid Controls, Fluid Power, a plus.

Subject matter expertise in Controls and Software

Knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM tools, an asset
