The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.SUMMARYThe Section of Nephrology emphasizes the training of students, postdoctoral fellows and clinical fellows in the fundamentals of kidney pathobiology to improve the outcomes of patients with chronic and acute kidney disease. A Research Assistant will be responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing experiments, as well as interpreting and presenting results. The work will contribute directly to our ongoing NIH funded research projects.JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIESResearch Planning and Execution

Designing and developing research protocols and experimental methodologies.

Conducting experiments, collecting and analyzing data using state-of-the-art scientific techniques.

Troubleshooting experimental issues and implementing necessary modifications.

Data Analysis and Interpretation

Applying statistical methods and data modeling techniques to analyze and interpret experimental results.

Summarizing and visualizing data in a clear and concise manner.

Collaborating with team members to draw meaningful conclusions and propose further research directions.

Documentation and Reporting

Preparing technical reports, research papers, and presentations.

Communicating research findings internally and externally through various channels.

Participating in conferences and scientific meetings to showcase research contributions.

Collaboration and Teamwork

Sharing knowledge, providing guidance, and mentoring junior team members.

Contributing to the development and improvement of research processes and methodologies.

Other duties as assignedEDUCATION: Bachelor's degree with major course works in one of the basic sciences.EXPERIENCE: One year experience in scientific or experimental research work.   • JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

  • At Houston Methodist, the Research Assistant III position is responsible for providing senior level of research support that may include scientific writing and data analysis. Work could be performed in either a laboratory or office environment. Under minimal supervision, the Research Assistant III will perform a wide variety of complex tasks requiring practical understanding of scientific techniques and advanced knowledge of scientific theory. This position is expected to assist scientists, both independently and collaboratively, with investigative procedures. The Research Assistant III performs various assays, imaging experiments and other technical duties to assist with laboratory and/or department research activities and may be required to work with animal models and/or human subjects.
