Sr Clinical IT Project Manager

The Senior Clinical IT Project Manager (Sr IT PM) manages two or more large Information Services (IS) projects. Acting as the agent for the project sponsor, the Sr IT PM manages cross-functional project teams and is responsible for projects that are highly complex, risky, or strategic in nature. He/she is responsible for initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing the projects following MD Anderson methodology standards. These projects address the operational needs of multiple departments in order to deliver specified requirements, meet customer satisfaction, on time, within budget, and with quality results. The position ensures appropriate management, customer, and supplier involvement throughout the life cycle of the project. The role provides oversight and mentorship to project team members, project managers, etc The Sr IT PM also provides input into and assist with the development of the project management methodology.This position may leverage work efforts in various areas of the TDI Project Management Office including, but not limited to the following based on need: Business & Technology, Clinical & Research, and/or Data Impact and Governance & Innovation.

Ideal candidates will have IT project management with PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System), Epic EHR System, Ancillary Clinical Systems or similar

Project management oversight, leadership and expertiseManages two or more large Information Services (IS) projects.Establishes and manages project expectations of all project stakeholders including sponsor, steering team, customers, users, and project team. Translates generalized customer business goals and objectives into concrete strategy and tactical plansDemonstrates strong leadership, facilitation, negotiation, mentoring, conflict resolution and resource management skills, with an organizational awareness.Develops and maintains optimal/effective relationships with project internal and external customers and vendors.Communicates effectively with stakeholders and project team and escalates project issues to management in a timely manner.Adheres to MDACC IS Governance procedures and Project Management Methodology. Completes and presents project documentation in a timely manner and as required for reporting to IT review groups and governance committees.Provides weekly updates, attends all project meetings and communicates status of all tasks. Initiates actions to keep project on schedule, within budget and scope.Cultivates skills and knowledge of Institution business practices to command a working knowledge procurement and budgets to include ability to analyze and review budgetary information to determine the impact on the project.Oversight for the development, enhancement and/or implementation of systems, applications, or databasesEnsures system functional requirements are defined using workflow analysis, regulatory and standards review, industry best practices, and other relevant sources using PMO designated tools.Develops and documents project scope and schedule in collaboration with project sponsors and key team members to ensure that the project is defined and reduces future risks and issuesEnsures customer review and approval of system requirements, system configuration, testing results validation, system readiness for go-live and final customer acceptanceEnsures that project team and end-user input is incorporated into all implementation activities and deliverables based on the defined Project Management Methodology guidelines.Ensures the design, configuration and setup of all system inputs, outputs and interfaces meet the business needs of the customerDocuments decision-making processes undertaken with customers that lead to content decisionsWorks with technical team members to document technical requirements, specifications and design for system hardware, software and architecture.Coordinates development/delivery of training for end-users and customer groupsCoordinates development of production support model for the production system.Resource ManagementAdheres to established parameters for project resource management, including personnel, technical, schedule and financial.Defines, prioritizes, coordinates and manages the work of the project team. Participates in project review activities as requiredEstablishes and maintains current project schedules and keeps management informed of resource status as neededEstablishes and maintains a current project budget and keeps management informed of budget status as needed.Manages all project expenses and related financial resources.Provides feedback to appropriate management on team member's contributions and performance.Mentors IT Project managers and associate project managers and contact PM resourcesEducation Required:Bachelor's degree.Preferred Education:Master's Degree Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, Healthcare Administration or related field.Preferred Certification:Project Management Institute (PMI) Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP).Experience Required:Six years of experience to include five years in project management and five years in application and/or infrastructure services. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one-to-one basis.
