Description We are seeking a Grant Accountant to join our team in the Education - University sector, located in San Antonio, Texas. As a Grant Accountant, your main function will be to handle post award grant accounting tasks, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, and effectively communicating financial policies within the organization. Responsibilities: Ensure compliance with OMB 2CFR 200, the code of federal regulations, compliance, and cost principles for federal awards Set up, monitor and close out grant awards for post-award accounting Effectively communicate with all levels within the organization to facilitate post-award accounting of restricted funding Coordinate financial policies of the federal government and university with Principal Investigators Handle the preparation of audit work papers for Uniform Guidance audit and financial statement audits Utilize skills in Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Journal Entries, Month End Close Operate software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP for various accounting tasks Maintain open communication lines with all levels of the organization, including Principal Investigators Review and monitor grant awards for post-award accounting. Requirements Must possess a minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role. Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) is required. Experience with Bank Reconciliations is essential. Familiarity with General Ledger and Journal Entries is a must. Proficiency in Month End Close tasks is required. Experience with NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP is highly desired. Must hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Must be detail-oriented and organized. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is required. Must demonstrate a high degree of integrity and confidentiality. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is required. Must have a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. Experience in the education industry, particularly within a university setting, is highly preferred.
