Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as a Nationally Registered or Virginia Certified Paramedic or EMT-Intermediate as part of the Medic Treatment Facility ambulance service while performing invasive advanced life support procedures. This position is located in Fort Eustis, Virgina. Responsibilities Respond to the site of accidents or other emergencies involving injury, illness, and potential environmental risks. Serve as a Nationally Registered or Virginia Certified Paramedic or Virginia EMT-Intermediate and operate as part of the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) ambulance service while performing invasive advanced life support procedures. Perform basic and advanced life support emergency medical treatment to provide the most extensive prehospital care to significantly increase patient survivability and reduce the possibility of long-term complications from serious illness or injury. Perform routine operator safety checks, thorough emergency vehicle maintenance inspections of the vehicles, and inventory all supplies and equipment. Coordinate with dispatch for additional ambulance response, military police, fire department personnel, or other mutual aid as needed. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying basic and advanced emergency medical techniques, administering medications, performing medical interventions according to protocols, treating patients in accidents or emergencies, independently assessing patients to determine the best care approach; and operating emergency vehicles to transport patients to definitive care facilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). . Additional Information Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid, unrestricted Paramedic or EMT-Intermediate Certification (National Registry or Virginia) at time of hire. Incumbent is required to have and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Incumbent is required to have and maintain a current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Incumbent is required to have and maintain a current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a state or DoD Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) certification within six months of hire. Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 level training within six months of hire. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
