We are looking for an Accounting Assistant to perform daily accounting tasks that will support our financial team. Accounting Assistant responsibilities include managing expense reports and reimbursements, entering financial transactions into our internal databases and reconciling invoices. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable are properly coded and completed in a timely manner
Create and update expense reports
Process reimbursement forms
Enter financial transactions into internal databases
Check spreadsheets for accuracy
Maintain digital and physical financial records
Issue invoices to customers and external partners, as needed
Participate in quarterly and annual audits
Good understanding of GAAP
Assist with overseeing credit policies and credit review for new customers
Analyze Accounts Receivable Aging and Collections reports
Maintain fixed asset system by adding and disposing of assets, prepare appropriate journal entries for depreciation expense and gain/loss on fixed assets and maintaining appropriate documentation
Prepare reports detailing monthly expenses by department
Correspond with other departments to ensure proper accounting for purchases and expenses
Prepare forms and manuals for accounting and human resources
Document and ensure proper keeping of financial records, including filing company records
Prepare documentation for external auditors and other third party providers
Execute monthly closing duties and generate accurate and timely financial statements
Assist with month-end financial statement consolidation of other business units as required
Skills/Knowledge:
Work experience as an Accounting Assistant or Accounting Clerk
Knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures
Familiarity with finance regulations
Good math skills and the ability to spot numerical errors
Hands-on experience with MS Excel and accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks)
Organization skills
Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information
BSc/Ba in Accounting, Finance or relevant field
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of two-year degree with previous accounting experience
Proficiency in understanding and use of personal computer software skills including Word, Excel, Outlook and QuickBooks. Must be able to create Excel spreadsheets using formulas and macros
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience of working in a manufacturing environment would be ideal
Experience with automated accounting packages / ERP systems preferred
