Our program delivers depth and real experience so that you can truly evaluate potential career paths within the work we do. What we look for in our Structural Engineer Interns: 

Must be pursuing or have a bachelor/masters degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering with a Structural focus or a related field. Sophomore student standing or higher required.

Availability in Summer 2025 (May/June start until August/September depending on school); part-time availability after Summer preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Must be detail-oriented, well organized, and possess excellent follow-up skills.

Must be self–motivated, able to multi‐task and work independently.

Ability or aptitude to read and interpret construction plans, specs, contracts, proposals, estimates and other regularly encountered items.

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio required; working knowledge of SharePoint and MS Project preferred.

CAD experience through AutoCAD MEP or Revit preferred.

Must be 18 years of age or older.

What are our Structural Engineer Interns responsible for: 

Performing construction administration activities as needed for various structural projects.

Supporting ongoing mechanical and electrical projects from a structural perspective.

Performing sizing, layout, and coordination of structural and seismic support of equipment, ductwork, and piping for new and relocated scope.

Researching codes for inspection requirements.

Assisting with project submittals related to seismic and structural design.

Generating accurate structural calculations

Exploring building information modeling concepts and practices when using BIM as a design platform

Utilizing both manual and packaged calculations software.

Other duties as assigned.

Communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, with clients and peers. Good judgment, dependable, supervises projects with technical expertise and good business management skills. Strong computer skills including editing, formatting and using templates in Microsoft Word, use of Internet for standards/products/manufacturer research, and operation of computer-controlled test equipment. Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and night work. Must be available for out-of-town and international travel of up to several weeks. Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear, and smell.
