We are seeking a passionate, resourceful Dinner Theater & Food Production Manager to bring our community dinners to life. This role is for someone who thrives at the intersection of food, storytelling, and collective care—someone who can orchestrate meals that nourish both body and spirit while ensuring smooth execution behind the scenes.
You’ll be responsible for managing, running, and executing immersive dinners for a small, vibrant Trans/Queer/Disabled community of artists, creators, and entrepreneurs who share a deep commitment to sustainability, safety, and finding joy in challenging times.
This is not just about cooking—this is about curating an experience. Think of it as a blend of kitchen management, theatrical production, and community hospitality.
Responsibilities
- Meal Coordination & Execution
- Plan and oversee the preparation of delicious, nourishing meals with a focus on sustainability and seasonality.
- Manage food sourcing (farmers’ markets, local producers, food rescue, etc.).
- Coordinate meal prep and serving logistics, ensuring timing aligns with the flow of the event.
- Accommodate dietary needs (Gluten Free, Vegetarian, Dairy Free etc) and preferences within the community.
Theatrical & Experiential Elements
- Collaborate with event organizers to integrate narrative, ambiance, and sensory elements into each dinner.
- Work with artists, performers, and designers to ensure the food complements the night’s themes.
- Assist in transforming dining spaces into immersive environments.
Kitchen & Logistics Management
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen and dining area.
- Manage inventory, purchasing, and budgeting for meals.
- Coordinate with volunteers or community members who wish to help.
Community Engagement
- Create a warm, welcoming atmosphere where people feel connected through shared meals.
- Be responsive to community needs, adjusting menus or service styles as needed.
- Share knowledge about food sustainability and creative cooking techniques.
