Firefly Kitchens produces artisan batches of naturally fermented foods specializing in kimchi and sauerkrauts. Firefly's fermented foods are raw, naturally preserved, and contain billions of live probiotics that are great for your health! As a small, but dynamic, fast-growing company, Firefly is currently looking for a full-time (32-35 hours/week) Kraut Mixer and Food Production Team Member who is exceptionally detail-oriented and possesses a strong commitment to quality in their work.
The Firefly Kitchens Mixer/Lead is responsible for the production of all of Firefly's fermented products, including Kimchi, Yin Yang Carrots, and sauerkrauts. All the vegetables in our ferments are processed by hand immediately prior to being mixed in a power mixer. Mixing is difficult work that requires steady feet, detail-oriented multi-tasking, and the ability to repeatedly lift 50 lbs of cabbage above your head.
Responsibilities include:
Accurately measuring out all ingredients
Sanitizing and maintaining the mixer
Mixing product in a sanitary fashion
Documenting the necessary paperwork
In this position, you also will be working as part of the team to process, produce and package Firefly Kitchens’ products. You will be involved in all aspects of the following:
Cleaning, peeling, chopping and shredding vegetables in preparation for barrel fermentation
Measuring, packing, labeling and boxing finished product
Inspecting and cleaning jars and lids
Moving, organizing and palletizing product for shipment
Ideal candidates for this position will have:
At least 1 year experience working in a commercial kitchen or food production environment
Good knife skills and experience with food processors and shredders
Passion for quality through teamwork and solid communication
Ability to stand for 2+ hours at a time
Food handlers permit
Associate's degree or commensurate experience
Demonstrated commitment to safety
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Hours for this position are Monday through Thursday 8AM to 5PM.
