Associate Dean of Clinical EducationEmployee Type: FacultyPosition Number: 120729Work Location: SpokaneSummary of Duties:The Associate Dean of Clinical Education is a physician administrator with demonstrated success in the education of medical students and the development of faculty toward their highest potential in their chosen field. She/he ensures that the educational experience encountered by each student in and around Spokane, WA is of the highest quality possible and in compliance with the requirement of accreditation. She/he ensures that the faculty of the Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine (ESFCOM ) associated with the Spokane campus are properly oriented to their roles as educators She/he directs the delivery of medical education, working with hospitals, clinics, WSU Spokane campus, and faculty to ensure a quality education program is delivered in Spokane. She/he oversees an administrative staff responsible for student and faculty support on the Spokane campus. The Associate Dean also works with the WSU Spokane administration to support research and scholarly work by faculty and students. She/he works closely with the Chair of Medical Education and Clinical Sciences to ensure horizontal and vertical integration as well as overall efficacy of the medical education curriculum delivered in the Spokane region.The Associate Dean of Clinical Education (ADCE ) collaborates with the Vice Dean for Academic and Community Partnerships, the Vice Dean of Student and Faculty Experience, and the Chair of the Department of Medical Education and Clinical Sciences to achieve the mission in medical education and clinical care in Spokane. The ADCE responsibilities include: Collaborates with the WSU Spokane administration, particularly the Vice Chancellors for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs Assists in the recruitment and appointment of clinical faculty and professional administrative staff Supports the medical school overall strategic planning process Assists in the development of the clinical campus in Spokane Stays current with health care trends that impact medical education Works with the VD, ACP to ensure that medical education programming in Spokane meets LCME accreditation standards Advises, and participates in, the student recruitment and admissions process in the Spokane campus, in collaboration with the COM Admissions Committee Oversees medical education curriculum delivery on the Spokane campus. Monitors student achievement and satisfaction in Spokane, and ensures effective counseling, mentoring and remediation programs are available for students at risk Oversees student support services in Spokane to ensure counseling, career advising and the overall student experience is optimized Oversees the operations of the year 1 and 2 clinical preceptorships, working with and giving guidance to the preceptorship coordinator. Supports faculty and staff in meeting their performance goals and objectives while continuously stretching goals to improve measureable outcomes and educational quality Implements and oversees best practices for education of medical students, residents (where appropriate), and faculty continuing medical education Provides input on physical plant needs for medical education on the WSU Spokane campus and clinical sites in the Spokane area Conducts annual reviews for Spokane faculty as delegated by the Chair for Medical Education .and.amp; Clinical Sciences and recommends faculty for awards/rewards based on performance in leadership, content knowledge, teaching expertise,
