Provides spiritual and emotional support for the hospital staff. Provides on-call coverage as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. One (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education.
2. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school.
3. Ordained or commissioned for ministry, or in the process of ordination/commissioning, with a recognized faith group.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. A graduate-level theological degree from an accredited school of theologyORequivalent graduate-level degree that may be counted towards board certification.
2. Eligible for certification by the Association of Professional Chaplains, National Association of Catholic Chaplains, or National Association of Jewish Chaplains; Certification must obtain within three years of hire.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Makes spiritual care visits to patients, their families, and hospital staff on a regular and consistent basis to enable them to utilize, discover, or develop their spiritual resources in times of crises.
Interacts consistently in a warm manner that effectively invites others into pastoral relationships.
Provides effective, competent, informed spiritual support for: organ donation, ethical dilemmas, discontinuation of life support and palliative care, as well as trauma and medical/surgical patients.
Provides spiritual resources that are appropriate in light of the other's tradition, including reading material, provision for ceremonies and rituals, and arranging of visits by faith representatives from the community when specifically requested.
Documents in the patient record and in departmental records. Communicates relevant patient information with the Spiritual Care team and interdisciplinary team members.
Maintains a consistent accountability for spiritual care activities with Spiritual Care team members and Department Director.
Participates as a Spiritual Care team member in the on-call pager rotation that provides 24-hour availability of spiritual care.
