This position is represented by the Anchorage Municipal Employee Association (AMEA) and is subject to the provisions of the current agreement between the Municipality of Anchorage and the AMEA.DEPARTMENT: Development ServicesHOURS OF WORK: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.LOCATION: 4700 Elmore Road, Anchorage, AKExample of DutiesUnder general supervision, performs responsible technical work examining construction drawings, specifications, and calculations for the construction, alteration, or repair of residential buildings, commercial buildings, and auxiliary structures to ensure compliance with sound building principles, codes, and regulations. Responds to inquiries by architects, engineers, contractors, and other parties about building code interpretations. Prepares written reports related to plan review issues. Perform other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications / Substitutions / PreferencesBachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture or similar discipline and four (4) years of experience in construction or project management, building construction design, and/or building plan review.ORMaster’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture or similar discipline and two (2) years of experience in construction or project management, building construction design, and/or building plan review.Preference :
State of Alaska Professional Registered Engineer or Architect License or equivalent licensure in other state with the intent to acheive within 6 months of hire.
Valid State of Alaska driver's license at time of hire or ability to obtain a valid Alaska driver's license within six (6) months of hire.
Certification as a plan reviewer from the International Code Council (ICC).
