Electrical Project Manager

Position Overview

The Electrical Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the electrical aspects of large-scale commercial construction projects from inception to completion. This includes managing project schedules, budgets, materials, teams, and ensuring that all work complies with electrical codes, safety regulations, and client expectations. The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills, extensive electrical knowledge, and a proven track record in commercial construction.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership: Manage electrical construction projects from pre-construction to close-out, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to specifications.

Scheduling & Budgeting: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, track progress, and ensure financial objectives are met.

Team Management: Supervise and coordinate electrical crews, subcontractors, and other key project personnel. Provide leadership and guidance to ensure efficiency and quality.

Client Relations: Maintain ongoing communication with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure project goals are met. Provide regular project updates and resolve any concerns.

RFIs & Change Orders: Manage the RFI process, identify any issues that may affect the project timeline or costs, and prepare change orders as necessary.

Code Compliance & Safety: Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal codes and safety regulations. Conduct site visits to monitor compliance and address any issues.

Submittals & Approvals: Review and approve material submittals, shop drawings, and equipment selections. Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials.

Troubleshooting: Provide technical support for troubleshooting electrical issues during construction and offer solutions to problems that arise on-site.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including daily reports, safety inspections, and quality control logs.

Qualifications

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience in electrical construction management will also be considered.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience managing electrical projects in the commercial construction sector. Experience in large-scale projects is preferred.

Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP), LEED certification, or other related certifications are a plus.

Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and safety standards. Familiarity with project management software (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project) and estimating software is required.

Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage project teams, including electricians, subcontractors, and other construction professionals.

Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients, vendors, and internal teams.

Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, especially in high-pressure situations.
