We are seeking both nurse practitioners and physician assistants to join the Division of Emergency Medicine.Rady Children's Hospital San Diego (RCHSD), a 377-bed level 1 Trauma Center, is the major regional primary and tertiary pediatric hospital and is the clinical home of UCSD Department of Pediatrics. The Emergency Division has a strong commitment to clinical care, teaching and research. The Urgent Cares consist of 6 locations around the county of San Diego and the surrounding areas. The Emergency Department is located at the Rady Children’s Hospital Main Campus.Please note that this position needs to work at the RCHSD Main Campus (primary location) and also the Rancho Springs Emergency location.JOB SUMMARY:The Physician Assistant, NICU/ED/UC position is accountable for a defined patient population under the supervision of a licensed physician. The Physician Assistant, NICU/ED/UC is the primary provider of care to acute, critical, complex chronically ill and well pediatric patients collaboratively with the Divisions of Neonatology, Emergency Medicine, or Urgent Care. Implements the role of expert practitioner, consultant, educator, and researcher within a specialized area of patient care. Provides preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic healthcare services within the scope of licensure and in accordance with CSSD policies and procedures. Some positions will be responsible for being on call according to a predetermined schedule or as needed, pursuant to Division needs.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Master’s Degree and Completion of a Physician Assistant ProgramCurrent California Physician Assistant licenseCurrent BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers, issued by AHACurrent PALS Certification, issued by AHAFurnishing number, State of California – Must obtain within 1 year of employmentDEA license for positions that require the writing of scheduled medications – Must obtain within one year of employmentMedicare Billing number (NPI- National Provider Identifier) - Must obtain within 6 months of employmentCertification: Physician Assistant, National Commission – Must obtain within 1 year of employmentSuccessfully complete the credentialing process through Medical Staff ServicesSuccessfully complete the requirements of the delegations of Services for the assigned divisionPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Two years of experience in clinical practice with emphasis in specialty areaExperience in specialty area as a Physician AssistantFormal in-service education and/or lecturing skillsBilingual Skills desiredThe expected hiring range for this position is $74.51 to $102.45 per hour.Children’s Specialists of San Diego is committed to compensation that is externally competitive and internally equitable.
