Registered Nurse Lead Health Educator SITE OF SERVICE:

Naval Base Health Center San Diego, CA (Health and Wellness Department)

Full Time

POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:

Degree: Master's degree in nursing, Health Promotion/Education, Community/Public Health, or a Human service-related field.

Education: Graduate from a college or University accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Experience: Four (4) years of full-time experience as a health educator working with Health Promotions and Wellness campaigns, including tobacco/nicotine cessation, diabetes prevention/management, weight management, stress management, sleep psychoeducation, nutrition, exercise, heart health, or disease management/prevention.

Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse.

Certification: Must maintain hands-on BLS course through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Additional Certifications: Registered nurses shall then obtain certifications (e.g., IV, medications, and blood administration) by clinic nursing service and command policy not later than 60 days after commencement of services. (2-hour lecture on IV certification).

U.S. Citizenship: HCWs performing under this contract shall be U.S. citizens.

English Language Requirement: Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to communicate effectively.

Physical Capability:Shall be physically capable of standing and sitting for extended periods and performing all services required under the contract.

HOURS:

Services shall be provided Monday through Friday between 0600 and 2100 hours. Occasionally, services may be required on Saturday or Sunday between 0700 and 1300 for a 5.5-hour shift.

Shifts provided Monday through Friday will typically be scheduled for an 8.5-to-9-hour period, including an uncompensated 30-to-60-minute lunch break.

Shifts may also be provided Monday through Friday for an 8.5- to 13-hour (8.5 13 hours) period, including an uncompensated 30-to-60-minute lunch break, respectively, to meet the department's business needs.

In no instance will HCW be required to provide services of more than 80 hours per two-week period.

In addition to the typically scheduled work hours, the HCWs will occasionally be required to teach evening classes and periodically participate/present in a health fair on the weekend. Compensatory time off will be granted for evening or weekend work on an hour-for-hour basis. Earned compensatory time shall be used within two pay periods.

Base Down Days:

During a planned closure of the facility due to training, closures before or after holidays, or family down days, the employee will only be compensated for the hours worked. If the clinic is closed and the employee cannot work, the employee will be required to use leave or take LWOP (without penalty).

Qualifications Registered nurse with current licensure to practice nursing in the practicing state Possess and maintain CPR certification Previous experience in home care setting with two years management or supervisory experience, preferred Proven ability to work within an interdisciplinary setting Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured and in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order Prior use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred
