RMC is hiring a Sr. Linux System Administrator to support one of our Department of Navy (DoN) customers in San Diego, CA. This individual will be expected to provide and lead system administration for workstations, servers, and various network and infrastructure devices supporting RDT&E (Classified and Unclassified). This work can include, but is not limited to installation/imaging, patching, maintenance, and troubleshooting of systems to resolution on the required Linux Operating System. Red Hat certification is required. Experience with LDAP, Radius, NetBackup and DNS is preferred. Roles and Responsibilities: The selected applicant will also perform and support hardware and software installations, to include but not limited to:

Serve as on-site Linux support for the programmatic and technical leads, communicating critical and time sensitive planning, performance, and risk mitigation with the technical leadership team.

Monitor system performance including legacy servers and cloud systems.

Evaluate and implement potential new tools and technologies.

Enhance programming/scripting skills for automation.

Document maintenance, repair and test activities.

Create and maintain user accounts and install hardware/software.

Monitor status of LAN/WAN and circuit switching systems

Perform system administration of RHEL operating systems.

Write and maintain automation scripts for RHEL and other operating systems.

Support the implementation of Security Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIGs).

Support software developers and Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) environments.

Operate test equipment to ensure circuit, system and network signals meet minimum standards; perform circuit, systems and network patching, and cross connecting to establish, sustain and restore service.

Perform QA evaluations to ensure compliance with technical orders and manufacturer specification sheets.

Requirements:

Six (6) years of relevant experience

Bachelor of Science in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field is preferred.

The selected applicant must have a DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 Certification or greater (Security+ CE, equivalent, or greater) and have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Red Hat certification is required. Experienced with LDAP, Radius, NetBackup and DNS is preferred.

Security Clearance: An active DoD Secret clearance is required to start. Applicant selected may be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Compensation

The projected compensation range for this position is $120,000.00 to $170,000.00 (annualized USD).

Salary at RMC is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, a candidate's specific combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific requirements.

RMC employees may be subject to current COVID protocol requirements in order to access government facilities.

  • Summary The incumbent will serve as an Airway Transportation Systems Specialist (ATSS), in the Air Traffic Organization, Technical Operations, NAS Security & Enterprise Operations, Enterprise Ops Group, WAAS Operations Team, AJW-B160. Responsibilities This position serves as an Airway Transportation Systems Specialist and is a principal specialist for major projects and/or a specific program area. The incumbent resolves unique technical problems without managerial intervention, provides required coordination and recommends/suggests solutions to complex issues within the NAS. Performs work with a high degree of independence, keeping the supervisor advised of only the most critical issues. Carries out work in accordance with overall plans and objectives of the organization, resolving problems as they arise and making adjustments as necessary to deal with unanticipated situations and organization needs. This work includes responsibility for evaluating diagnostic data from multiple systems that are integrated to support a network of services or service products. Evaluation of this data is used for correcting deficiencies on Contractor Acceptance Inspection (CAI)/Joint Acceptance Inspection (JAI), and timely restoration of equipment, systems or services within the NAS. Position may be the second level support for NAS systems, District, or Service Area offices providing broad program expertise. Contacts are both internal and external to the FAA.
