About Us:

We are a dynamic and busy family with young children looking for a talented and experienced Private Chef to join our family and team. Recognizing the demands of balancing work and family life in a bustling home, we understand the importance of having a creative and dynamic Private Chef to help ensure the whole family is well fed and we're able to continue to foster our children's love of food. Our focus is much more on hearty, nutritious and flavorful food than Michelin-level presentation.

The ideal candidate will be creative, flexible, innovative, passionate about food, and able to operate with a warm, empathetic and can-do attitude. An excitement for being around and engaging with young children and the chaos that they bring is an absolute must.

Schedule: Part-time 4-days a week with flexibility to occasionally work after hours

Location: On-site at the family's house in the East Bay; occasional travel may be requested

Start Date: ASAP

Responsibilities:

- Partner with existing senior chef to cover the family's meals, collaborating on menu planning, materials, inventory tracking, etc.

- Plan and prepare daily meals for the family, including lunch, dinner, snacks and dessert

- Develop menus that adapt to the family's dietary and nutritional preferences while innovating and introducing new dishes to expand family's palette

- Source high quality and fresh ingredients while operating on a budget

- Maintain a highly organized and clean/hygienic kitchen while also managing inventory for kitchen supplies and ingredients

- Handle special events, dinners and get-togethers as needed

Qualifications:

- Proven experience as a full time Private Chef or in a similar role for a private household (ideally one with children)

- Must absolutely love working with children, as the kids are very active in the household and the chef will be engaging regularly with them (and when appropriate involving them in meal preparation)

- Expertise with a variety of cuisines and cooking techniques, along with passion and ability to expand into newer cuisines

- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, along with strong adaptability and problem-solving skills

- Experience developing exciting menus that are able to fit within budget

- Impeccable organizational skills and attention to detail

- Warm demeanor and excellent communication skills

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion
