JOB TITLE: Tap Room Supervisor
REPORTS TO: General Manager
LOCATION: San Leandro Brewery
Under the direction of the General Manager, the Taproom Supervisor (TRS) is responsible for assisting with all aspects of running the taproom. This includes ensuring the taproom continues to provide a fantastic customer experience and communication with other departments and Managing Partners. The TRS will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our San Leandro Tasting Room location, namely overseeing operating procedures and managing a team of employees committed to our growing company. The ideal candidate will be a skilled and motivated leader, an excellent communicator, and a forward-thinking professional, driven to think critically on any issue. The TRS will also supervise taproom staff, manage and coordinate inventory, and assist in strategic planning. The ideal candidate loves craft beer, is organized and detail oriented, responsible, and hard working.
Role and Responsibilities
Supervisor Responsibilities:
Assisting with inventory of glassware, merchandise, cleaning and office supplies.
Assist with the weekly beer inventory count and monthly merchandise count.
Manage and update POS systems with new products.
Assist with the planning and organizing of special events, parties, and reservations at both locations.
Update beer menu as needed.
Coordinate with brewing staff.
Work with the General Manager to develop and maintain operating procedures for the front of the house.
Communicate with the marketing department on promoting the taproom events
Assists in keeping taproom and merchandise areas stocked, clean, organized and customer ready.
Stay proactive, anticipate and act on problems as they arise with direct communication and support from the GM
Assist in overseeing overall cleanliness, appearance and feel of the taproom
Implement a Brewery Tour Schedule/Program
Assist the GM in continued staff training (new beer tastings/education, upselling,etc)
Bartender Responsibilities:
Consistently provides outstanding customer service by maintaining upbeat and friendly disposition, remaining apprised of various beer styles to inform and educate customers, encouraging exploration of other beer styles when appropriate.
Demonstrated ability to navigate Point of Sale (POS) and count money.
Ability to monitor keg volume and change out as appropriate. Assist with the ordering of kegs from each brewery in order to ensure appropriate variety in beer offerings are available at both locations.
Requirements
What Skills you have/Minimum Qualifications:
High School/GED
2-3 years minimum service-focused role in a bar/restaurant/brewery or similar environment
Excellent customer service, interpersonal and proven leadership skills
Ability to troubleshoot tap systems/kegs
Knowledge of and passion for craft beer and the brewing industry
Strong communications skills – knowing when to ask questions, offer solutions, discuss
issues and escalate problems – and then communicating effectively in these situations
Attention to detail and adherence to standard operating procedures with minimal
deviation
Retail math understanding required
Retail point of sales (POS) system knowledge and experience highly recommended
Knowledge of safe work operations, safety policies and procedures including sanitary
handling of beverages and potentially hazardous chemical and materials
Entrepreneurial team spirit: willing to take initiative and jump in where needed;
resourceful in making suggestions and offering solutions
Problem solving: ability to quickly assess a situation and solve problems in a timely and
effective manner
Dependent independence: ability to work independently but also know when to seek direction/guidance appropriately and as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
BA/AA Degree; Some College work
Cicerone certification Level I
Food Safety Certification
Physical Demands for this role:
Ability to function productively while standing and moving for significant periods of time necessary; Standing for long periods of time
Ability to operate effectively with continuous, moderate high noise levels
Frequent walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, climbing, stooping, crawling and crouching.
Must be able to correctly lift up to 50 lbs to shoulder height and push or pull up to 75 lbs.
Use hands, fingers to wrist and maintain fine digit manipulation and must be able to fully extend arms.
Must be able to maintain adequate vision (with or without corrective lenses); able to distinguish; Adequate peripheral vision is also necessary for safety purposes as are depth, distance, and ability to focus.
In performance of job duties, employees are routinely required to communicate effectively with customers and coworkers.
