About Us:
KFW is a small, veneer-based custom cabinetry and millwork shop on the beautiful island of Kauai. The shop specializes in hand-stitched, custom veneered cabinetry, paneling and interior doors. Our close-knit team works together to build dream homes with incredible attention to detail and unique design challenges.
Position Overview:
KFW needs a Lead Woodworker with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a high-end woodworking shop. If you are passionate about your craft and excited to contribute to jaw dropping design-builds on Kauai, this position is for you. Temporary contracted or permanent employment possibilities. Join our team for three months starting in August and receive a bonus!
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage custom woodworking builds
Review and interpret shop drawings
Work with exotic veneers, ensuring precision and perfection
Safely set up and operate woodworking machinery
Oversee and assist team members, ensuring safety, quality and efficiency
Some installation of custom cabinetry and millwork required
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years experience at high-end, custom woodworking shop, prefer 10+ years
Self-starter with a deep understanding of complex woodworking concepts and engineering
Must have recent employment in a cabinet/wood shop
Boat builders welcome to apply
Extensive experience with exotic veneers preferred
Proficient in understanding shop drawings and cabinet hardware
Detail-oriented with a commitment to perfection
Ability to work cleanly and produce clean work
Strong communication and leadership skills
Ability to safely set up machinery for others
Self-starter with a deep understanding of complex woodworking concepts and engineering
