Job Description

Job Summary: The Principal Systems/Software Engineer will help lead the design and development effort for a new robotic system for hip and knee replacement surgery. The Engineer will interface with external robotics and software consultants, will assist in building an internal development team, and will participate directly in the system and software design and technology development efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Applies skills in robotics system design, software development, control systems, sensor data integration, research, and general engineering principles to develop a robotics system for hip and knee surgery.
  • Interfaces with vendors, contractors, and clinicians to develop and realize design requirements.
  • Works within quality system environment to produce required technical and regulatory documentation.
  • Produces and executes development plans in accordance with department goals and objectives.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science, electrical engineering or related field.
  • 12 plus years of experience in system design involving robotic technology components.
  • Strong real-time software development experience in C and Java. Experience with multi-threading is preferred.
  • Solid working understanding of motion control, kinematics, and dynamics.
  • Experience designing, testing, and analyzing experiments.
  • Experience with network communication.
  • Understanding of control systems, including servo control, data latency and other error impact effects.
  • Experience with sensor data integration and analysis.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Experience with code reviews, version control, and unit tests.
  • Familiarity or experience with regulatory environments.
  • Attendance and Punctuality are essential function of the position.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and applicable Quality System Standards.
