Heavy Equipment Operator:
Local Private Residential Development Company is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to operate a range of construction equipment—including excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, and loaders—in a safe and efficient manner.
Position Summary:
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for driving and controlling construction equipment to perform excavation, grading, loading, and related site work. The operator ensures machinery is in good working order, follows all safety protocols, and supports the crew in completing residential development projects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Operate heavy equipment safely and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
Assist the crew with trenching, excavation, material handling, and related tasks.
Load and unload equipment and materials from vehicles and trailers.
Maintain job sites by keeping equipment, materials, and work areas clean and safe.
Inspect heavy equipment daily to ensure safe operation.
Perform utility excavation, mass excavation, and work related to rock and cmu retaining walls.
Maintain awareness of surroundings, including other employees, elevation changes, street crossings, and underground utilities.
Move, load, and spread materials across project sites using mechanized equipment.
Recognize and respect equipment limitations regarding capacity and capability on hillside conditions.
Communicate effectively with employees and subcontractors assisting with installations.
Promote workplace safety and environmental best practices.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Heavy Equipment Operator required.
Experience in residential development, site work, utility excavation, concrete related site work
Skills & Qualifications:
Knowledge of construction sequencing and processes.
Valid Hawai‘i Driver’s License and access to an insured vehicle. Clean driving record.
Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs. Ability to climb onto, off of, and under various equipment as required.
Physical ability to walk, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
Strong manual dexterity for operating hand controls.
