Responsibilities
The Decentralized Float Nurse in the department of surgical specialties is accountable for the delivery of culturally sensitive, age specific direct nursing care for Surgical Specialty patients in multiple ACU's under Surgical Specialties.
Perform phone triage, including assessment, screening, clinical advice, nurse visits (in person/ video visit) in-clinic hands on procedures, and other duties assigned.
Accurate and efficient documentation of nursing care.
Knowledge and appropriate use of internal and external resources.
Provide functional supervision to assistive personnel; collaborate with colleagues, other disciplines, and health care/community services to promote continuity of care.
The Registered Nurse in the Surgical Specialties clinics supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family; assesses the needs of the patients; plans, implements, and evaluates patient care; and teaches patients, families, orients colleagues and peers. The Registered Nurse demonstrates adaptability to changing needs and priorities based on unit, department, and institutional goals/objectives. The Registered Nurse shows a willingness to adapt to different populations as adult urology medicine demands. Orientation and training provided for new subspecialties on expansion of division.Expectations

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan Medicine
Two (2) or more years of recent (in last 3 years) performing direct patient care with adult surgical patients.
Experience with providing direct patient care to the adult opthalmic population.

Previous experience as a float nurse
Two (2) or more years (in last 5 years) caring for the adult surgical population in the ambulatory care setting.
Ambulatory phone triage experience.
Two (2) or more years of recent (in last 5 years) experience with electronic medical records, specifically EPIC. Computer/typing skills such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
Work ScheduleHours: 20 hrs/wk, 8-hour shifts. Monday through Friday. Potential Weekends and Holidays.Shift: Days, Variable shifts.
