Maintaining the biologics department Lyophilization and other production and R&D equipment as operational and safe without excess expenditures. Identifying, researching, sourcing, and installing new production equipment.Principal Responsibilities Develop and execute maintenance plans for all planned and unplanned maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and equipment repair for production equipment. Team supervision and training for direct reports to eliminate technical gaps, ensure no single source of knowledge, train team on safety and general processes required to perform job function. Managing budgets, spare parts inventory, and external contractor relationships efficiently. This involves ensuring resources are allocated effectively, overseeing the procurement of necessary tools and parts, and negotiating contracts when outsourcing maintenance tasks. Utilizing data analytics and performance metrics to track the effectiveness of preventive maintenance plans. Analyzing data can help in identifying trends, optimizing schedules, and making continuous improvements to prevent breakdowns and increase equipment lifespan. Ensuring all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and industry standards. Implementing safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, and overseeing adherence to safety guidelines during maintenance operations are crucial responsibilities. Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Implementing and refining preventive maintenance strategies based on evolving technology, industry advancements, and feedback from technicians. Emergency Response Planning: Developing contingency plans and protocols for handling emergency breakdowns or unexpected failures. This includes having backup systems, emergency repair procedures, and quick-response strategies to minimize downtime during critical failures. Provide input and support related to the procurement of new equipment. Complete technical improvement projects that lead to improved quality, reduced cost, or increased capacityEducation / Experience Requirements High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Trade School diploma a plus. Minimum 7 years of equipment troubleshooting required. Minimum of 5 years managing direct reports.Specialized Skills / Other Requirements Advanced knowledge of mechanical / electrical repair of common production equipment. Ability to read machine drawings and schematics. Strong written and oral communication skills. Advanced Computer skills.
