Read more: careers.bms.com/working-with-us .The Director of Industrial Hygiene will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of global industrial hygiene programs and policies across BMS through the Safety CoE. This role will work closely with global cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with BMS standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices related to industrial hygiene, occupational health, and safety.Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities :

Develop and maintain a global Industrial Hygiene (I.H.) strategy and program.

Streamline Company standards and prioritize best practices and best available technology for IH containment. Ensure IH sampling plans use scientifically sound, risk-based approaches.

Define IH resources and competencies, develop training programs, mentor, and support professional development of the IH network.

Work with site EHS, Engineering, Facilities, and operations staff to design and implement IH controls to ensure containment and ease of operations.

Administer and function as SME for the IH qualitative and quantitative assessment database, and provide necessary review, analysis, approval, and reporting of IH evaluations. Coordinate training for all new or inexperienced users and interpret results for management as needed.

Interpret and advise the scientific community on BMS procedures and guidance for the proper handling and use of potent drug compounds, basic laboratory reagents and materials, and physical hazards in the laboratory, development areas, pilot plants, and manufacturing facilities throughout the network.

Technical IH lead for the firm; guide and provide technical IH expertise to manufacturing sites, research laboratories, and global project teams.

Proactively assess research data from the BMS Occupational Toxicology staff and independently published sources to communicate/implement actions to ensure the health and safety of affected staff.

Develop leading and lagging metrics to monitor IH performance to proactively intercede and resolve deficiencies.

Participate in engineering reviews to address industrial hygiene and employee exposure control.

Assist with complex IH control solutions and risk management for sites and projects.

Audit and assess industrial hygiene programs for compliance and improvement.

Monitors emerging health and safety legislation and IH technologies and adjusts IH programs, standards, and controls to ensure compliance

QualificationsMinimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health and safety, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

Minimum of ten (10) years of Industrial Hygiene experience with at least five (5) years in a leadership position.

Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification required. Additional certification such as Certified Safety Professional, Certified Biosafety Professional, or Professional Engineer desirable.

Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements related to industrial hygiene, including OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, and EC Directives.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to manage and mentor people.

Must be able to distill complex technical information for ease of consumption through oral communications and senior leader presentations

Travel: Ability to travel up to 30%
