GENERAL PURPOSE:Philosophy Department Academic Administrator for primarily Graduate student support and event support.RESPONSIBILITIES:

Graduate Coordinator - Coordinate the day-to-day activities of the graduate program including answering questions about the current status of graduate students for faculty advisors and the Director of Graduate Studies. Assist graduate students with questions and track their progression through the program. Serve as their point of contact when registering their dissertation (at the time they prepare for final defense). Perform other related duties, such as managing graduate student applications and coordinating the faculty review of graduate applications. Updates the graduate handbook as requested by the Director of Graduate Studies, and updates the University Graduate Bulletin every other year. Assists graduate students with registration and processing Graduate Studies Office documents. Assist with biannual graduate evaluation meetings.

Events Coordinator - Coordinate department colloquia, lectures, seminars, and conferences, which often requires: making travel arrangements, room reservations, catering, publicity, advertising, and scheduling. Includes Graduate Student Welcome events, Department Holiday Party, weekly Philosophy Council meetings and grad student awards.

Clerical and Other Duties

Publicity for the department – Social media, website and annual newsletter. Update department brochures. Department Library management, Digitization of records.

Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree required.

Prior knowledge of University systems very helpful.

Must possess a strong working knowledge of: Windows or Mac, Microsoft Word, Excel, Zoom, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign.
