Description We are offering a contract employment opportunity for an Insurance Referral Coordinator in the non-profit sector, based in Rochester, New York. The role involves coordinating healthcare services for patients, maintaining accurate electronic medical records, and providing superior customer service.Responsibilities: Coordinate patient referrals to specialists, diagnostic services, and other healthcare providers as required. Utilize MEDENT software to manage patient data and facilitate the referral process. Maintain accurate patient records in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system. Resolve any patient inquiries related to their healthcare referrals in a timely manner. Navigate complex healthcare systems to ensure efficient coordination of patient services. Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and team members to ensure smooth service delivery. Continually update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all relevant healthcare regulations and standards. Collaborate with team members and healthcare providers to improve patient care. Requirements Proficiency in MEDENT software is essential for this role. Prior experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems is required. Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) is a significant plus. Strong customer service skills are necessary to effectively interact with patients and medical professionals. Prior experience in a non-profit environment is desirable. Knowledge of insurance referral processes within a healthcare setting is advantageous. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary for managing multiple referrals simultaneously. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to effectively coordinate with various stakeholders. Ability to understand and adhere to the policies and procedures of the non-profit organization. Experience in a similar role as an Insurance Referral Coordinator would be beneficial. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations is mandatory. Complete pre-certification/authorization with the patient\'s insurance company providing any necessary documentation. Document authorization/pre-certification once received along with contact information of the person spoken with.SCHEDULING & SUPPORT: Contacts the patient and notifies them of the scheduled procedure and all necessary instructions. Coordinates with the hospital or facility the arrival times of each scheduled patient and contacts them with this information. Assists in reviewing and revising policies and procedures pertaining to scheduling function. Performs other responsibilities as necessary to ensure efficiency within the practice. Maintains operational knowledge of department equipment: telephones, computers, faxes, copier, printers, etc.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: S - Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.PAY RANGE: $19.00 - $24.00 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants.
