With the leadership of the Safety and Health Extension (SHE) Program Leader, the applicant will work to design, develop, implement, deliver, and evaluate educational materials, strategies, techniques, and programs that serve to reduce occupational injuries and illnesses within industries in West Virginia and surrounding states. Training will take place under the sponsorship of management, unions, associations, and the public. This position will focus and lead efforts for safety and health training program administration, training courses and safety and health services.
This position is a state funded position.
Both in-state and out-of-state travel is required.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ability to work in a team setting on a variety of projects, while completing work in a timely manner.
Teach approximately 150 hours per year of occupational health and safety classes to workers, managers, and business owners in West Virginia and the surrounding region. The primary training hours will be as an OSHA Trainer as part of the OSHA Education Center for construction, general industry, and specialty topic areas.
Administer and assist safety and health training and marketing efforts for industry and contractual courses throughout the region.
Develop curricula for classes to be taught, including assembling materials, writing handouts and manuals, developing evaluation instruments and lesson plans, creating PowerPoint slides, and hands on and visual aids.
Develop and author contracted educational and training materials and programs for unions, government agencies, employers, associations, and other organizations.
Provide technical assistance/problem solving services as requested by client groups, including industrial hygiene services (air monitoring, noise level monitoring, and ergonomics assessments), safety audits, and safety management recommendations.
Market training and technical assistance programs and work with other staff in the preparation of grant and contract proposals.
Develop, write, and implement research, training and service grant proposals and contractual agreements for the reduction of occupational injuries, illness, and fatalities.
Prepare and submit required grant and other reports, attend grantee and other meetings and committees (University, State, Regional and National) to fulfill responsibilities.
Establish and maintain a working relationship with other Extension and WVU faculty, state, federal OSHA and NIOSH staff, and other professionals, as the job requires.
Participate in \"in-house\" training and other technical training sessions for continuous professional development.
Other related responsibilities as assigned.

What You\'ll Do
Lab Management:
Oversee the introductory laboratories in PHYS 101/102/105/111/112.
Develop and maintain knowledge of current research trends in introductory physics laboratory education and work with course instructional personnel to ensure new laboratory experiences are developed as best practice evolves.
Develop an inventory system for laboratory equipment. Maintain an inventory of all laboratory equipment.
Purchase disposable supplies such as batteries, wire, magnets, radioactive sources, spectrographic tubes and replacement equipment for introductory lab spaces.
Monitor equipment such as power supplies, lab interface devices, scientific probes, and advanced lab equipment such as spectroscopes and photoelectric effect devices to ensure all are functioning properly.
Manage or perform weekly setup and break down of the introductory labs.
Coordinate with physics and astronomy personnel to create new laboratory material as needed.
Oversee weekly laboratory meetings including all graduate course TAs for courses without course coordinators.
Monitor safety standards, including electrical current and voltage limitations, storage of radioactive sources and hazardous gasses and chemicals, and required safety protective equipment, of laboratory spaces and experiments.
Ensure needed maintenance of laboratory spaces and equipment, including fixed lab equipment and wiring is performed.
Be available to fix lab equipment problems during business hours.
Teaching Assistant (TA) Management:
Create TA teaching assignments for all courses each semester.
Develop and administer a TA training program, including intensive training at the beginning of the semester and regular training throughout, consistent with best practices. Maintain a knowledge of best practices so that the program can be updated as needed.
Develop and administer a TA evaluation plan including Student Evaluation of Instruction and TA course observations.

What You\'ll Do
Supervise the daily operation of the Statler College Office of Student Services providing administrative leadership to plan, coordinator, and supervise the office. Allocate work assignments to staff, setting priorities, and deadlines. Develop and train the student service staff.
Ensure that academic actions/requests made to the Office of Student Services follow all established college and university academic policies and procedures.
Certify and process M.S. and Ph.D. requests for graduation.
Certify all students in the Statler College for graduation based on established College guidelines and policies.
Provide college level oversight of all college services and activities related to processing student requests, forms, applications.
Develop, implement, monitor, and revision of forms, policies and procedures.
Certify that students enrolled in the College are in compliance (e.g. NCAA, I-20). Conduct student audit reviews for CPoS, Athletes, and Sponsored Students.
Participate in College and University committees and task forces that affect the Statler College.
Collaborate with the Office of the University Registrar to ensure that all Statler College DegreeWorks audits are accurately scribed. Provide exceptions in DegreeWorks.
Collect, analyze, and process data from multiple data warehouses including University and non-University sources. Develop, implement and manage systems to track data, spot trends and make data-driven recommendations.
Prepare data reports, data modeling, and other data management functions as request by the College.
Collaborate with staff, faculty, administrators and internal departments to research and resolve complex student issues.
Provide reports to appropriate college personnel (faculty, staff, dean) in a timely manner to assist the college in making decisions, grants, or other requests.
