Senior Vehicle Engineer (Salary Range: $175,000/yr - $180,000/yr): Design and align vehicle attributes to meet program goals. Support the vehicle integration engineering team to deliver vehicle performance, packing, mass, cost, and timing targets. Perform engineering duties in planning and designing tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment. Develop the architecture and propose alternative engineering solutions for design themes and provide feedback to the design team. Work closely with cross-functional teams of engineers to develop efficient designs and lead the integration of interfacing components. Develop and maintain technical documentation such as Design Validation Plan (DVP) and Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) as well as Component and System Technical Specifications. Support testing, prototype build, and launch activities. Coordinate with the manufacturing group on mass production assembly solutions, assembly sequence, and part feasibility. Solve feasibility issues that form the vehicle structures and work with the vehicle integration engineering team to ensure targets are met and define geometric dimensioning and tolerancing systems.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or related technical field. 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Automotive Design Engineer, or a closely related occupation.

SKILLS: Must have:

1. Five (5) years of experience creating vehicle engineering designs which comply with FMVSS (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards) and ECE (Economic Commission for Europe) regulations.

2. Experience with CATIA (V5 or V6) to develop 3D surfacing and solid models, and 3DExperience.

3. Experience creating studies for vehicle design feasibility, packaging, and manufacturing requirements.

4. Experience with mechanical design of sheet metal components and assemblies.

5. Experience with manufacturing processes for producing passenger or commercial vehicle parts, including injection molding and identifying thermoplastics defect characteristics.

6. Experience creating technical documentation and reports including Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (DFMEA), and the Design Verification Plan & Report (DVP&R).
