Description We are looking for a Staff Accountant from a bank to join our team in New York. This role plays a crucial part in our finance department, with responsibilities ranging from managing financial reports to ensuring tax compliance. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining our general ledger, assisting in budget preparation, and supporting annual audits.Responsibilities: Prepare and analyze financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Identify financial trends and provide insights to management for decision making. Maintain the general ledger by recording transactions and reconciling accounts to ensure accuracy of financial records. Assist in the preparation of budgets and conduct variance analysis to monitor company performance. Collaborate with other departments to create accurate financial forecasts. Prepare and file tax returns, including income tax and sales tax, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations. Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure the company's financial practices are in line. Implement and monitor internal control procedures to maintain financial integrity. Identify areas for process improvement and risk mitigation within the financial processes. Support external auditors during annual audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations. Utilize financial software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP for various accounting functions.Requirements Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar at a bank. Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR). Experience with Bank Reconciliations. Knowledge of General Ledger management. Ability to prepare and manage Journal Entries. Experience with Month End Close procedures. Proficiency in using NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP accounting software. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required. Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Strong understanding of regulatory standards in accounting.
