Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in the non-profit sector located in New York, New York. This role will focus on various accounting tasks including bank reconciliations and month-end close procedures. Responsibilities: Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting Utilize Microsoft Excel to organize and analyze financial data Assist with month-end close procedures for accurate and timely financial statements Maintain accurate financial records and prepare reports for internal use Collaborate with other accounting staff to ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately Ensure compliance with accounting and financial regulations Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts Collaborate with external auditors during audits Provide support in the resolution of accounting discrepancies Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the accounting function. Requirements Demonstrated experience in non-profit sector, particularly in an accounting function Proficiency in bank reconciliations, with the ability to accurately balance and reconcile statements Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs Familiarity with month-end close processes, including the preparation of financial reports and statements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Strong analytical skills and attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong ethical standards and integrity in all business dealings Commitment to the mission and values of the non-profit sector.
