This position is focused on developing complex repair solutions for components, supporting Engineering and Operations through guidance and knowledge-sharing. Ensures engineering activities meet FAA, customer, and OEM standards. Emphasizing collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, this role provides technical direction to advance repair engineering, ensure compliance, and drive innovation.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Fosters a collaborative environment with the engineering and operations teams. Provides mentorship and technical guidance through project phases. Provides training and support to engineering and operations staff on repair techniques, regulatory requirements, and best practices.

Leads engineering activities to ensure timely and accurate completion of repair and modification projects during maintenance and overhaul. Oversees R&D projects focused on innovative repair processes and component enhancements, managing from concept through implementation. Conducts feasibility studies, risk assessments, and performance evaluations of new designs and repair concepts. Plans, reviews, and prioritizes engineering tasks to meet customer timelines, regulatory standards, and budgetary constraints.

Leads Lean Engineering/Operations initiatives and integrate best practices to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction. Develops and substantiates complex repair solutions aligned with FAA, OEM, customer, and ATS Quality standards. Analyzes and substantiates complex repair and modification designs using industry-standard practices.

Creates, reviews, and approves engineering designs, repair instructions, and technical documentation using CAD software. Ensures strict adherence to FAA, EASA, and other regulatory requirements in all engineering documents, drawings, and designs. Works closely with DERs to develop and certify repair designs, supporting FAA 8110-3 approvals.

Validates and approves the use of customer, OEM, and other technical data to ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and quality standards. Represents the engineering function in interactions with customers, OEMs, and regulatory authorities, presenting value-based repair solutions and resolving technical issues.

Acts as an on-site liaison to support shop personnel, ensuring effective communication across departments. In collaboration with Maintenance and Quality Control, performs detailed measurement of components for inspection, repair, and overhaul that require complex instrumentation and/or programs (e.g., FARO Arm, 3D Modeling) and calibrated measurement devices (e.g., micrometers, calipers).

Identifies and develops new repair capabilities to expand service offerings, leveraging the latest industry advancements and technologies. Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain, to optimize repair processes and reduce turnaround time (TAT). Produces and reviews technical investigations, repair instructions, and written accomplishment instructions for component repairs or modifications.

Develops and approves engineering documents and CAD drawings within authorized signatory level, ensuring they meet compliance and accuracy standards. Develops work statements and hour estimates to support project proposals, aligning with strategic business objectives.

Works closely with the Director of Engineering to align on strategic goals and project priorities. Assists in implementing new policies and procedures to enhance departmental efficiency and responsiveness. Engages actively in continuous improvement, adapting processes to meet evolving industry standards and regulatory requirements. Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with internal teams, customers, regulatory bodies, and OEM representatives to achieve project objectives and enhance service delivery.

Performs other duties as assigned. Availability for on-call support and alternative shifts to meet project demands.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with eight or more years of aerospace experience preferred, or twelve years of equivalent aircraft design experience.

Minimum of five years in a supervisory or project management role, ideally within OEM/MRO environments, with experience in structural engineering, repair design, and compliance.

Proficiency in MS Office suite, CAD software, and understanding of composite structures repair.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to sit, stand and walk; use their hands and arms; and talk or hear; and focus on objects close up. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.Compensation The base salary for this position is $95,000.00 – $142,000.00 (expressed as annualized for exempt), exclusive of benefits or potential bonuses. The lower end of the range represents the target base pay for those beginning or developing in the role. The higher end of the range is intended for those who have mastered the role, with proven significant expertise, high achievement, and specialized skills. If you are hired at ATS, your salary rate will be based on factors such as skills, education and experience. In addition to those factors – we consider internal equity of our current employees when determining offers. This position is eligible for an annual bonus.
