  • Summary This position is located in the United States Department of Agriculture, Agriculture Research Service, Ruminant Diseases & Immunology Research Unit in Ames, IA. In this position, you will actively participate in one or more phases of the research process by performing a variety of technical duties in a laboratory, Dairy farm or greenhouse environment. This is a term, time-limited appointment with an initial duration no less than 13 months and can be extended up to a total of 4 years. Responsibilities Maintains, calibrates and modifies equipment and automated systems used for test and evaluation procedures. Tabulates, statistically analyzes and summarizes data using personal computers and software packages. Collects, prepares, evaluates and verifies samples including dairy samples and supporting records. Disposes of waste material both chemical and biological. Works directly with livestock on a dairy farm. OR A combination of graduate level education and specialized experience as described above. In this position, you will assist higher-graded employees in a wide range of crafts and trades to operate, maintain, and repair a variety of mechanical and building systems in laboratories, animal housing, and support buildings. Responsibilities Assists in a wide range of crafts and trades as assigned for NCAH’s Common Services Division in research laboratories, animal housing, biocontainment facilities and support buildings. Assists with repair of drains and plumbing systems. Assists with concrete, painting, and carpentry work. Uses pertinent repair and maintenance manuals.   • Summary The Property and Space Management Specialist is responsible for activities and functions related to space management, and property at Diagnostics & Biologics (D&B) facilities nationwide. You will be responsible for a wide variety and heavy volume of administrative activities and advisory services as they relate to space management, and real/personal property management.
