Job Title: Senior Buyer / Planner This position is 100% onsite in Salt Lake City FLSA Status: Exempt Position Summary The Senior Buyer / Planner is responsible for providing production support and coordinating activities involved with procuring goods and services. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Provide production support and coordinate activities involved with procuring goods and services, such as raw materials, equipment, parts, supplies and services Review requisitions and award purchase orders in accordance to knowledge of current fair market prices and price history Determine the best method of procurement Prepare purchase orders Review bid proposals and maintain manual or computerized procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories Review defective, unacceptable goods or services with users, suppliers and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action Approve invoices for payment and contact suppliers to resolve invoicing issues Expedite follow-up and receiving of materials, supplies and services in a timely manner to support JIT shipments Process raw material requirements and purchase orders Complete data entry from receiving paperwork Source, select and submit new suppliers Request samples and applicable documentation from suppliers Monitor quality and services from approved suppliers Work on special assignments as they arise Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the purchasing field Strong organizational skills High level of attention to detail Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to prioritize key business objectives and respond quickly to changing priorities Able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook Education and Experience High School diploma; Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is preferred Minimum 5 years of experience working in Purchasing or related areas Working knowledge of Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) Experience with Oracle is preferred Travel Requirements Typically requires travel less than 5% of the time Physical Requirements and Work Environment This is largely a sedentary role.
