Position: GROCERY SHIFT LEADER Full-time 35-40 hours. Requires open availability, including evenings and weekends. Status: Reports to Grocery Manager Supervises Grocery Team Pay Level: IV, non-exempt. Location: Easthampton, MA Purpose: To provide support to the Grocery Manager and Assistant Manager with supervising department closing shifts; to ensure department operational goals are met during shifts to meet goals for sales, margin, labor expense, and customer service; and to act as a supervisor in the absence of managers. Responsibilities STOCKING & REPLACEMENT ORDERS Assist customers with product questions, promptly, friendly, and courteous manner, referring them to other staff when necessary. Lead customers to the product whenever possible. Offer suggestions for purchases and ways to use products. Offer tastes and samples. Help customers place/pick up special orders. DEPARTMENT OPERATIONS Pull short-dated or low-quality items, record and dispose of them following established procedures. Keep retail cases, coolers, receiving, and storage areas in clean, sanitary condition, meeting health department standards. Participate in periodic inventory counts. Monitor cooler and freezer temperatures. Advise the Grocery Manager of equipment repair or replacement needs. Assist with receiving as needed. Check deliveries for damage, quality, and accuracy, and follow up on discrepancies. Rotate deliveries into storage. SUPERVISION & LEADERSHIP Set work priorities and direct staff, including break schedule, to ensure productivity. Ensure customer service standards and expectations are met by all staff. Ensure food safety practices are adhered to. Ensure safe, efficient, and effective equipment use by staff. Facilitate good communication between all shifts for operational excellence and good department teamwork. Act as a point person for conflict resolution during shifts. Fill holes in the staff schedule when needed. Assist with on-the-job training and support the development of staff. Participate in hiring, training, and evaluations of department staff when requested. Qualifications Supervisory experience preferred. Experience in a retail environment. Excellent customer service skills. Excellent communication skills, with a focus on positive and productive results. Demonstrated/proven ability to follow through on commitments. Organized, and attentive to details. Ability to lift 75 lbs. Ability to stand for long periods. Ability to work in a cold, wet environment. Manual dexterity with hazardous equipment. Ability to give clear instructions. Regular, predictable attendance; flexible availability including nights, weekends, and early morning.

  • Activity Coordinator The Activities Coordinator provides practical and administrative support to the Program Manager and Director of the Council on Aging in planning, coordinating, organizing, and implementing a diverse range of programs, services, activities, and special events for the Easthampton Council on Aging and Enrichment Center. This role assists in developing and executing marketing and communications strategies to promote engagement, while also delivering high-quality customer service and support to members and visitors. Performs additional related duties as needed to contribute to the center\'s mission and community impact. Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent, 30 Hours Per Week Salary: $20.00 - $22.51 Per Hour ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assists with organizing, implementing, staffing, and scheduling programs, services, activities, and special events. Performs program and event communications and marketing tasks, including updating sections of the city website and web calendar, creating posts for social media, creating flyers or overseeing their production by volunteers, writing some of the content for and laying out the newsletter, and writing activity-related correspondence. Helps older adults participate in the center\'s programming. Provides feedback and information to the Program Manager and other staff regarding older adults\' needs and participation in activities. Provides superior customer service to Easthampton\'s diverse community. Assists with recruitment and operations involving volunteer programs and volunteer staff. Maintains training and certifications in First Aid, CPR, and Serve Safe, as well as training in elder services. Attends regional and statewide meetings and trainings on council on aging/senior center activity development, volunteer engagement, and marketing and communications as needed. Maintains accurate and extensive department files and records in databases and assists with reports. Works with various technology and software systems (MySeniorCenter, Google Suite, Microsoft Publisher, etc.). May need to drive a transport van to safely and efficiently transport participants to and from various locations for activities and events. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Associate degree in a related field and 1-3 years of related experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Serve Safe training preferred. Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator License required.
