  • The Military Division (Massachusetts National Guard) is seeking a motivated individual for the role of Building Maintenance Supervisor II in Methuen, MA. The selected candidate for this role will be responsible for the organization, maintenance, and repairs of the assigned facility. This supervisory role is responsible for ensuring that the needs of the facility are met within the standards of the Military Division. The ideal candidate will have a clear understanding of building maintenance and standard preventative maintenance procedures that are often used in connection with building structures, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all-inclusive) · Plans for the maintenance and repair work to be completed on their own, by staff, and contractors. · Performs the cleaning, floor waxing, waste removal, and upkeep of the restrooms. · Performs the upkeep of the grounds such as lawn mowing and snow/ice removal. · Responsible for maintaining the safety, sanitation, and overall cleanliness of the building. · Monitors the buildings computerized heating, ventilation & air conditioning system. · Responsible for purchasing, inventorying, and issuing of supplies and equipment. · Schedules inspections on the security of the building to ensure the building is safe and secure. · Writes specifications on the estimates of any cost, repairs or alterations completed by contractors. ABOUT OUR AGENCY The Massachusetts Guard has a unique dual mission, with both federal and state responsibilities. During peacetime, Guard forces are commanded by the Governor through the State Adjutant General. The Governor can call the Guard into action during local or state-wide emergencies, such as storms, floods, blizzards, and civil disturbances. In addition, the President of the United States can activate the Massachusetts National Guard to participate in federal missions. The Massachusetts National Guard\'s mission is to be trained and ready to provide units that can mobilize for any contingency, at home or abroad. To accomplish this, we must sustain a ready, reliable, and robust joint military team of Army, Air Force and civilians that will honor our responsibilities to nation and community. The National Guard is one branch of the U.S. Armed Forces. The Massachusetts National Guard consists of both the Massachusetts Army National Guard and the Massachusetts Air National Guard. We are composed of full-time and part-time Soldiers and Airmen, as well as civilians, who together serve the Commonwealth and country. Preferred Qualifications Experience in maintaining a work schedule and assigning tasks. · Experience troubleshooting needs for repairs. · Experience with State of Massachusetts or other procurement bidding. · Experience with lawn maintenanceand snow removal. Experience conducting safety inspections, building condition assessments, and preparing reports documenting building deficiencies and other safety concerns. Required Qualifications · Proven experience as maintenance supervisor or similar role. · Excellent verbal and written communication skills. · Strong technical knowledge of all building systems. · Knowledge and experience with safety precautions and procedures. · Knowledge of health and safety practices and regulations. · Knowledge and experience with preventative maintenance procedures. · Knowledge and skill in the use of equipment, materials used in grounds and building work. · Ability to maintain neat and accurate records. · Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity. · Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, blueprints, and drawings of a building. · Willing to work during emergency situations which may occur after normal work hours, weekends, or holidays. First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days. Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in building maintenance, the major duties of which included (1) maintaining and/or repairing plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilating and/or air conditioning systems and/or (2) building custodial services and (B) of which at least one year must have been in a supervisory capacity.
