The sterile processing technician monitors sterilization mechanically, chemically and biologically. This position must also have an understanding of decontamination processes and inventory control processes. This position provides department specific assistance from the retrieval of soiled instruments. Duties include retrieval and transportation of instruments and rendering contaminated items safe for handling following specific procedures and transporting cleaned items to areas for proper storage or other areas for further processing.
