We provide rehabilitation services across the continuum - acute care hospitals, long term care facilities, sub-acute rehabilitation, homecare, outpatient centers, and in community settings such as senior centers, work sites, and schools and colleges. Job Summary We’re seeking a Certified Hand Therapist (Occupational Therapist) for our Outpatient Rehab Clinic in New Britain, CT. The Certified Hand Therapist independently evaluates patients’ level of hand and upper extremity function and determines, develops, and implements individualized treatment goals and plans in alignment with the patient/caregiver goals. Determines treatment strategies and delivers direct care to promote healing of complex conditions and injuries of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand to maximize mobility, and remediate and rehabilitate acute or prolonged physical dysfunction or pain. Assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation planning for hand and upper extremity patient population including but not limited to post-surgical patients, tendon injuries, and fractures. Responsibilities: Upon referral, performs thorough examination and evaluation of surgical and non-surgical patient’s level of upper extremity function. Performs evaluations for upper extremity strength, motor control, joint mobility, soft tissue integrity, pain, and functional abilities of daily living Deliver therapeutic techniques that are appropriate to patient’s needs and medical status. Implement, deliver and delegate patient care by utilizing appropriate interventions and clinical decision making. Therapeutic techniques include but are not limited to: exercises, pain management, wound care, swelling, and orthotics. Fabrication of upper extremity orthoses where required per treatment plan. · Outpatient OT experience required · Hand experience, CHT preferred. · Certified Hand Therapist from HTCC (Hand Therapy Certification Commission) preferred · Bachelors, Masters or Doctoral Degree in Occupational Therapy from a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). · License to practice as an OT in the state of CT.
